Job Title: Communication Officer
Location: Saksham Head Office, Delhi (with some travel as required)

Saksham is a national-level NGO working towards the empowerment of persons with visual impairments and other disabilities. Through education, assistive technology, community support, advocacy, and inclusion-focused programs, Saksham envisions a barrier-free and equitable society.
The Communication Officer will support Saksham’s outreach and engagement goals by creating compelling content, managing social media, supporting documentation, and amplifying the impact of Saksham’s work through effective storytelling and visibility strategies.
Draft engaging content for newsletters, website, social media posts, annual report, event briefs, and internal documents.
Assist in developing reports, case studies, success stories, and IEC materials.
Support the design of posters, brochures, banners, and communication assets.
Digital Media Management
Manage and regularly update Saksham’s social media handles (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube).
Coordinate content calendars and thematic campaigns.
Track analytics and prepare engagement reports to inform strategy.
Event Coverage and Documentation
Support communication needs during events, workshops, training sessions, and field visits.
Take photographs, record short videos/testimonials, and prepare event reports.
Coordinate with photographers, videographers, and vendors when needed.
Media and Outreach
Support the dissemination of press releases and outreach to local/regional media.
Maintain a database of media contacts and communication partners.
Contribute to campaigns and visibility efforts aligned with disability rights and inclusion.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mass Communication, Journalism, English, or a related field.
1-3 years of experience in communication roles, preferably in a non-profit or development setting.
Strong writing, editing, and visual storytelling skills in English (Hindi proficiency a plus).
Basic knowledge of tools like Canva, Adobe Spark, WordPress, or other design platforms.

Ability to manage timelines and multitask.
Empathy, and a sensitivity to disability rights and inclusion.
Desirable
Knowledge of accessible communication formats (alt text, captions, screen reader-friendly design).
Video Editing softwares like movavi, canva, Adobe Premrier etc.
Exposure to working with or for marginalized communities.
Remuneration
As per industry standards and based on experience.
